Luzern

Last week my mum came to visit me. I showed her the city...well, the places I knew by that time... and together we discovered some more. We had a wonderful weather and enjoyed it sitting at the lakeside, having a coffee in the sun.
One day we did a trip to Luzern. It's a very nice city, located at the Vierwaldstätter See.

The Old Town is lovely with narrow alleys, old houses painted with sceneries from 200 years ago (or even older), flowers at the windows.
We wandered around the lake and climbed up the hill to have a good view over the city.
Sunday my mum left. But before we had breakfast at Sprüngli coffeehouse, delicious! Sprüngli is a swiss confectionery and they sell wonderful pastries, the world-famous Luxembergerli, which I haven't tried so far and chocolate, of course.

This week my university started and I had some pretty interesting lectures. Professors here are a lot younger than in Berlin...and some are really handsome ;)
Students are the same (Same, same, but different) as everywhere and I think I gonna have a good time here with probably lots of work...but it's always like this, isn't it? And to be honest, for those who know me, if I don't have work I find some...

So, I wish you all a very nice and relaxing weekend.
Hugs, Nadja

Arrival in Zurich

Last week wednesday morning, after a big breakfast with Jule and Nadine I started my trip to Zurich. First it took me to Forchheim, Bavaria, where Kathrin's parents live. I didn't want to make the whole way in one day, so I spent one night there. Kathrin came with me to visit her parents and it was great to be in her company while driving. Her family is very friendly and her dad a great cook. Thanks a lot!!!
Next day I went on the road again and enjoyed the nice south German landscape passing by. I stopped in Stuttgart for lunch with Jonas, who I haven't seen for quite a while.
From Stuttgart it was not that far anymore. I passed by Schaffhausen, which is the first Swiss city after the border and met there with Mike. He was so sun tanned, I almost got envious. But no wonder after 10 month India... ;)

After all these stops and meeting people I finally arrived in Zurich and found my house. My flatmate Urs (typical Swiss name) helped me to get all my stuff out of the car and afterwards we went to the cinema. Nice movie "The Science of Sleep"...it's like a trip back to your childhood fantasies.

Saturday I went to Ikea, not a really good idea...to many people, and arranged my room. The rest of the weekend I spent mostly sleeping in my new bed.
And since yesterday I'm an official student of the ETH, jippie! In the morning I did some of these official registrations, bought parking admissions (I don't want to get another parking ticket ;) and met Olga. We spent a nice afternoon chatting in a café.

Now I gonna pick up my mum at the airport. She comes to visit me some days and will drive the car back to Berlin. Will be nice to discover the city with her, doing all the touristic stuff...well, I'm still kind of a tourist. It will take some time, until it feels like 'home' here.

Weekend in Amsterdam

Before moving to Switzerland I decided to spend a weekend in Amsterdam and visit my friend Rikschen there.
It tourned out to be a little Indian reunion. Almost all the Dutchies came over to Amsterdam for partying on Saturday and Tom from Brussels and Katrin from Berlin came as well.
But let met tell you in chronologial order. ;)
I arrived by train on early friday afternoon and had some hours to discover the city on my own till Rikschen finished her work. I walked around the canals and the center and enjoyed having nothing to do.

At six I picked up Rikschen at her office and we went for lunch to a delicious African restaurant. Food was really good and we could eat it with our hands which made it even more tasty. The evening we spent at her home talking and watching a dvd - Hyderabad Blues, very progressiv.

Saturday started relaxed with a late breakfast and Tom arriving from Belgium. The three of us went to the city by bike and wandered around having some beers in the sun and enjoying the nice weather.

Later the Dutchies arrived, we had dinner and some drinks at Rikschen's place and got ready for going out in the evening. Cocktails and beers in a bar and good music and dancing in a club. It was already five, I guess, when we got home.

Next day sunday I woke up with a headache, no wonder what from, which luckily disappeared after breakfast. Since I had to take the train back to Berlin at 5pm there was enough time left for a last walk and a coffee.

It was a fantastic weekend, seeing friends from India, meeting new people who had been in Hyderabad as well, good talks and lots of losts of fun!!!

Thanks a lot to Rikschen for organizing everything and providing a place to sleep for all of us...hotelier could be your second career if the lawyer job doesn't work ;)
